Social Studies Graduation Requirements
All public high school students are required to meet statewide graduation requirements in order to earn a diploma. In Social Studies, students are required to earn 3.0 credits.
Options below apply to students up through the graduating Class of 2023. Students in the graduating Class of 2024 and beyond must have a .5 Civics Credit on transcript in order to graduate (guidance forthcoming).

- Non-credit requirement
- Successful completion will be noted on transcripts
- May earn elective credit if taken in grades 9-12

In accordance with the State Board of Education amended graduation requirements (WAC 180-51-067), the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction reviewed
and revised the
K-12 Social Studies Learning Standards and Recommended Scope and Sequence,
aligning them with the amended requirements, including the 0.5 civics credit
required for graduation.
