Graduation Requirements

Certificate of Academic/Individual Achievement

A Certificate of Academic Achievement (CAA) or Certificate of Individual Achievement (CIA) tells families, schools, businesses, and colleges that a student has mastered a minimum set of skills required for graduation. Students show what they know and can do by passing state tests or state-approved alternatives.

Earning a CAA or CIA is required by RCW 28A.655.061.

The CIA is for students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Please see IEP Guidance for Selecting CIA Options for more information.
